Description

Adolf Jensens’s Innere Stimmen (‘Inner Voices’), his first published work for solo piano, was composed during the young composer’s stay in Denmark, and dedicated to Niels Gade, whom he met in the summer of 1860. Although they display the obvious influence of Gade and Schumann, these pieces still demonstrate the gift for musical imagery that will manifest in Jensen’s more mature works. The five movements are presented here in a new critical Urtext edition, with editorial commentary.
